My Wife Ran Circles Around Me

 

I worked out with my wife today and she ran circles around me.  I’m pretty sure she did twice the number of reps that I did.  Plus, she did Core De Force already earlier today.  To think it used to be the other way around once upon a time ago.  Oh well, that’s what I get for being such a lazy ass and not really caring what I ate.  I know I’ll get up to her speed one of these days, hopefully within this year.

It’s not to say that I didn’t push myself.  Actually, on Cardio Fix, I think this is the hardest I’ve pushed myself so far.  I was so smoked afterwards.  However, I think this goes without saying, I did take my breaks.  One of them was kind of involuntary because it was almost an “ass to face” situation, meaning my face almost collided with my wife’s ass during the Skater Jumps.  Most of the time I wouldn’t mind that…well I probably would have enjoyed that too honestly .  But it would’ve thrown both of us off and if you knew my wife’s competitive nature you would know you probably want to stay away from that line.

I had to take other breaks just to get caught up with myself the other times.  It was those damn burpees that killed it for me honestly.  You see, in the third round it’s two sets of lunges and two sets of burpees alternating between the two exercises.  I was good on the first set of lunges; those are kind of a nice break from the two rounds leading up to the lunges actually.  Then comes the first set of burpees.  You see, burpees and me really don’t really see eye to eye yet and they usually win the argument so far.  I put up a fight each time, but in the end they kick my ass.  So, after the first round 20 seconds wasn’t enough of a break for me before starting the second round of lunges.  I ended up starting 10 seconds in instead just so I could get my breath.  Then the second round of burpees and another lost argument between me and the exercise.  After that, I ended up taking one break during the Mountain Climbers and another, albeit a short one, during the bonus round, (Plank) Down & Ups.

I feel good about how I did though, even if my wife ran circles around me.  Actually, I’m very proud of her and what she has accomplished (don’t tell her I said that though).  I can’t expect to be where she is after just two and a half weeks.  I pushed really hard, sweated my ass off and pushed through as best as my body would let me.

Tomorrow is Dirty 30 and I killed it last week, so I should be able to kill it this week too.  I guess we will just have to see, until then, stay true and push through.
